Day 1: ReBOOT

First of all, I want to thank Joe Cross from the documentary Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead and author of Reboot With Joe: Lose Weight, Get Healthy, and Feel Amazing. I jumped on the opportunity to see him talk live at the Barnes and Nobles in Tribeca because I wanted to hear him say everything he believes in and shows in his movie and book, but in a raw, unedited way. I wanted to hear his perspective on juicing and really get his first-hand opinion.

Joe really helped encourage me to go beyond my limits and challenge myself to do this, though it’s “just” 5 days. But who knows, maybe next time I will go for 7, and then beyond. To me, its all about believing in yourself. It’s a choice that I am making as an individual for mental and personal growth and I’m excited to share my 5 day journey with you all!

So here goes:

I woke up way later than expected. so I got a late start on making my juices for the day. No big deal, I wasn’t hungry yet.

First I drank a hot water with ginger and lemon while I prepped to make my juices.

I cleared the kitchen, got my awesome little juicer out and got to choppin’ the fruits and veggies!

First I had The Sporty Spice which was surprisingly delicious! I thought because it had beets in it I’d be overwhelmed, but boy oh boy it was so yummy! I was actually excited that I got to drink the second half of it for my midmorning snack!

In between I had coconut and regular water and went to yoga with a friend. It felt so wonderful today! Yoga is so interesting in that way. Some days are more difficult than others and its weird because you think the more you go, the easier it gets, and that may be so, however some days I feel more energized and other days I feel more stressed, and that takes a huge toll on my practice. Its so cool though to be able to notice those things and then continue going and discovering a new part of yourself during the practice. I CANNOT tell you enough how much I truly, completely, and entirely enjoy yoga. Anyway, back to JUICING. Gosh daniela way to go on a yoga rant!

The Mean Green

Yes it is named like this for a reason, it was definitely pretty mean. It had an intense taste. It was alright, but the after taste wasn’t my favorite. That’s why I thought ahead and got me some straws so I could drink it faster. It really does help! Fun little tip if you are struggling with a veggie you don’t like. Also plugging your nose helps, but not with the after taste. ha.

I had two servings of this as well, and of course water in between.

Then the best part ever!

DESSERT!

Peach Pie Delight is exactly what it says: delightful. It consisted of peaches, apples, blueberries, sweet potato, and a dash of cinnamon. I enjoyed every sip of that dessert. I hope that is part of the 5 day recipe again!

And then of course I finished off my evening with a warm cup of Honey Vanilla Chamomile Herbal Tea.

Overall: I felt great all day. I’m relaxed and have such a positive outlook on this experience that I’m enjoying every feeling, even if it is that temporary hunger. I just have to keep telling myself that it can be defeated, and it will be defeated. This is a cleanse not only for my body, but for my mind. I think I’ve said that already, but its true. I’m really embracing every moment of it.

Successful Day 1: CHECK!

¡Hasta mañana!
